On Aug. 28, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD), along with the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, held a virtual public meeting with more than 140 participants. The agencies provided updates and answered questions on the status of the Cooperative Agreement.
Key topics included the ports’ and South Coast AQMD’s authority, enforcement, infrastructure planning, and Ocean-Going Vessel (OGV) CAAP Plus Measures. Public comments raised questions about CEQA compliance, enforcement, emissions reductions and the public process. Written comments may be submitted throughout the 45-day period, and all comments will be posted on both the South Coast AQMD and the CAAP websites.
In recent meetings, the discussions have centered on protecting district authority, strengthening enforcement and accountability, and ensuring continued public input. Conversations also focused on infrastructure plan priorities and targets.
