Application Resources

Are you a technology developer interested in TAP funding?

Interested in submitting a project concept to the TAP? Learn about what's required before you apply. Find test protocols, duty-cycle reports, and other resources.

The Technology Advancement Program funds demonstrations for emission-reduction technologies that have not been commercialized for port applications.

Technologies must also target any of the Ports’ five source categories which include ships, trucks, cargo handling equipment (including yard tractors), harbor craft and rail locomotives. Currently, the Ports have developed guidelines for specific source categories. If you plan to submit a project concept for any of the following source categories, please select the appropriate link to learn what will be required for TAP demonstrations:

Ships

Have a technology for ships?
Read the testing protocol first.

Trucks

Have a technology for trucks?
Read the testing protocol first.

Have a technology for port terminal equipment?
Read the testing protocol and charging standards first.

With the increasing development and deployment of zero-emission technologies for cargo handling equipment, including battery-electric yard tractors or rubber-tired gantry cranes, the ports developed a standardization for charging infrastructure required at all of the ports’ terminals. If you’re proposing a battery-electric technology for cargo handling equipment, please read what’s required for TAP demonstrations:
